What is the right set for my installation situation?
For residential use, you can install 2-part hinges with lock case. In practices, office buildings and hotels, the installation of such fitting sets is not recommended. In the commercial sector, you should rely on office hinges.
Before you decide on a hardware system, you must bear in mind that depending on the choice of door hinges, the glass must be drilled differently. The horizontal drilling in the hinge area must be carried out for the use of studio hinges, whereas the drilling of office hinges is vertical.
Difference between frame parts for studio and office tape
Studio tape
The horizontally mounted Studio hinge is the standard hinge in the private sector and fits all standard DIN door frames. This makes it easy to install. We recommend using sturdy frame parts, as the weight of glass doors is usually higher than that of conventional wooden door leaves. Studio hinges are also called two-piece hinges.
Office hinge
The vertically mounted Office hingethe vertically mounted office hinge, also known as a three-part hinge, is used in commercial buildings and for heavily frequented doors. Due to their double-guide design, office hinges have a reduced tilt behaviour and a longer service life. Our tested office lock with profile cylinder is the first choice, especially for installation and use with heavy traffic, e.g. in public buildings or hotels. Make sure that the frame parts are stable and that the door frame is firmly held in place.
Can an old studio band be replaced by a new office band?
An office belt can be used instead of a studio belt by simply exchanging the frame parts. Pay attention to the corresponding frame parts.
Loosen the screw in the frame
Pull out frame part
Insert new frame part and tighten screw
What does the DIN direction say?
The DIN direction determines the hinge and opening direction of a door. If you are standing in front of a door and the door hinges are hinged on the left, it is a DIN left door
Fixed frame parts for stable support
Glass door leaves have such a high dead weight and therefore often require reinforced full-surface bonding or anchoring of the door leaf frame. Furthermore, you should use reinforced frame parts to prevent the glass door from sinking with Studio hinge be avoided. Especially in the case of renovations, you should ensure that the existing frame parts are sufficient, otherwise they should be replaced.
